Son Seals performance in a wheelchair…1999
It was uplifting, deeply spiritual and showed his devotion to music. As it had been only 2 weeks after his amputation of his leg, he was THERE performing and he never missed a beat. A true spirited blues musician who showed everyone how deep he is inside. A true performer who has great inner strength that was devoted to the people.

1993 Blues Festival
When I think of a vacation in the Pocono Mts. during the summer the movie Dirty Dancing comes to mind but that has now changed after attending the 2nd. Annual Pocono Blues Festival July 31 -Aug. 1, 1993 at Big Boulder Ski Area in eastern Pennsylvania
Memories
1996 and the late great Lowell Fulsom is just so memorable to Ron and I.
1998 Otis Rush was the BOMB--get him back and have him play double sets PLEASE.
2000 had the surprise of the year. Willie King was the most intense TENT man ever. Not only did he surprise us, but when I returned home and as the so-called legendary man of WXPN to play his music, Johnny Mister had none of his music and did not recall him at Pocono. As a last minute add on, he deserved to be placed on main stage prime time. BRING HIM BACK. Also that year you had Super Chikan and Eric Bibb--the tent is where we stationed ourselves both days. I can't believe how lucky we were.
2003 Buddy Guy--I don't have to say another word. We have seen him so many times that I can't remember how many times. As far as I am concerned, heaven would be placing Otis Rush and Buddy Guy in the same year!

P.S. see you in July. Ron and I hope that bird man and tape man stay at home this year...
Memories
Been to all but the first. Can't wait till the next. Here's my trip down memory lane:
Magic Slim and the Teardrops headlined the first year and tore it up- will be happy to see them return this year
Shemekia Copeland's accapella version of Ghetto Child - still sends chills down my back
Luther Allison's blistering show a year before he passed
Keb Mo's closing set - my girlfriend was so mesmerized by his music and good looks and yelled out to him she wanted to have his baby-luckily he didn't take her up on the offer
Larry Garner-the great singer songwriter from Baton Rouge.I felt that I played a part in getting him to the show by sending Michael a tape of his JSP albums
Sherman Robertson- brought the house down with blistering solos and soulful singing
Denise LaSalle- one of many bawdy female singers who have graced the stage through the years to sing double entandre ballads that put a smile on your face and help bring a truce in the battle of the sexes
This is truly the Blues Lover Blues Festival. Every year there are surprises like Arthur Adams and Carl Weathersby. Then there are favorites like Little Charlie, Joe Lewis Walker, Mighty Sam McClain, Anson and the Rockets. It is a combination that can not be beat.
Can't forget the good people in the crowd. The stand outs like the guy with the alligator on a pole or the dude who put the watermelon on his head. You see the same faces year in and year out. We are all there for the same thing-to enjoy the beautiful scenery and listen to the best live Blues music in the USA.
